Partisans of the New Liberia Party, which previously flagged William Wiah Tuider and Dave Dixon as Standard-bearer and Vice Standard-bearer, have dumped their standard-bearer and vice standard-bearer and are trooping to the Alternative National Congress (ANC) in the hope to make Alexander Cummings the next President of Liberia.
The cross over to the ANC began with likes of Liberia’s Ambassador to United States, Jeremiah Sulunteh and Cllr. Winston Tubman. But with the huge chunk of partisans from the Movement for Progressive Change of businessman Simeon Freeman and a entire political party, named and styled the New Liberia Party jumping on board for the Cummings for president bandwagon, Liberians say the ANC might pose a very tough challenge to the Coalition for Democratic Change, comes October 10th polls.
The headquarters of the ANC, Friday, September 15th in Monrovia was a place of total celebrations as though the National Elections Commission has declared the ANC winner of the elections, as partisans and party stalwarts celebrated the arrival of the New Liberia Party on board.
Reading the resolution statement before thousands of partisans of both ANC and the New Liberia Party said that their decision of joining the ANC is based on the failure of their Standard-bearer William Wiah Tuider and Vice Standard Bearer Dave Dixon to live up to their commitment made to the party.
The National Secretary General Paul Weesaye said that Tuider and his team upon his election July 18 of this year as flagbearer promised to provide a spacious and an up-to-date office space for the use of NLP, promote and campaign on the platform of the party, provide materials, transport logistics, financial and administrative support to the party and submit to the NLP administration a structure of the campaign team for approval and onward submission to the National Elections Commission.
Mr. Weesaye said that since the endorsement of Mr. Tuider and his running mate to contest on the ticket of the NLP, they have cleverly and deliberately failed to live up to their commitments to the party and have failed to collaborate with the Executive Council members of the party, including its national chairman and secretariat.
According to him, Tuider failed also to provide information to the party’s executive committee on their campaign activities, including budget and expenditure on campaign related materials for the records and accountability.
He added that Mr. Tuider and Dixon lied under oath to the officials of the party and the membership and failed to put forth a dime in running the campaign process since the July 18th. He explains that Tuider has been living in Ghana and up to now is still in Ghana with 22 days to the elections, without responding to the party efforts to contact him.
Mr. Weesaye told ANC that the vision of Mr. Cummings is overwhelming and when given the time and support Liberia stands a better position to move forward.
For his part, Mr. Orashall Gould expressed thanks and appreciation to the entire leadership and partisans for the decision taken and that ANC will live up to the expectations.
Mr. Gould said that M. Cummings is the best choice for the country that had suffered 14 years of backwardness.
