President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has honored the Superintendent of Grand Gedeh County Mr. Peter L. Solo. The Grand Gedeh Superintendent was recently informed of the honoring ceremony by Foreign Minister Marjon Kamara.
Foreign Affairs Minister Kamara on behalf of President Sirleaf wrote Superintendent Solo, a communication that dated July 17, 2017 that he is to be honored based on his containment to national duty, dedicated public service and invaluable contribution to the development of Grand Gedeh County.
Grand Gedeh Superintendent was admitted into the unique order of African Redemption as Grade of Knight Commander from President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf as Grand Master as order of distinction of the Republic of Liberia.
The ceremony was held at the Centennial Pavilion in Monrovia.
Before his appointment by President Sirleaf in 2012, Peter Solo worked as assistant managing director for operations and out stations at the Liberia Water and Seward Cooperation and Human Resource Manager at the X-ward Atlantic Wireless “GSM” company.
After his preferment, some citizens believe his appointment was based on his membership with Masonic brotherhood and on his political affiliation with the Unity Party. Others opined that there was nothing that Superintendent solo actually did in Grand Gedeh as achievement.
Some of those citizens who talked to Groove 106FM say Peter Solo deserved to be honored by the Liberian leader, while others have said he needs not be praised.
Meanwhile, Mr. Solo expressed gratitude to President Sirleaf for the higher recognition of his service to his people.
He said it is time for Grand Gedeans to do away with criticism and begin to foster the development agenda of the County.

Speaking in an interview with local radio station in Zwedru, Solo explained that the honor was conferred upon the people of the county and not him, as an individual.
He said this was the first time in the history of Grand Gedeh since 1964 when the county gain county status for a superintendent to obtain such a great honor.
