Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company (LPRC) Managing Director Sumo Kupee says the presidency of Liberia is for serious minded people, and not for just any “tom, dick and harry”. He urged qualified voters to make a wise choice.
Speaking recently during an induction ceremony of officers-elect of the Liberian National Union, Mr. Kupee said that the presidency is for people who have dedicated their time, resources and commitment in serving and not just anyone who flies by night to be elected.
The former Lofa County Senator also cautioned Liberians not vote for someone because he or she is a kinsman, of the same religion, ethnic group or based on friendship; rather, Liberians should make decision that would positively impact the country to a larger extent. Kupee added that voting on ethnicity or because you are from the same county may create more harm than good.
Kupee described as “misguided politicians” individuals who only come to Liberia when election is near but says they do not have the country at heart.
According to him, if Liberia must take a different direction, it is now time for citizens, especially the voting population, to make good and sound decision in the interest of the country.
Election, he added, is not a cash competition but a competition of ideas and knowledge on how to transform the Country.
Meanwhile, the newly elected Chairman, Mr. Nathaniel Blamah urged candidates for representatives to prioritize the interest of their people.
